Gates Scholars class of 2017 announced

The 红桃视频 is proud to announce the 2017 recipients of the Gates Public Service Law (PSL) Scholarship: Dashni Amin, Karla Davis, Lindy Laurence, Maya Ramakrishnan and Bailey Russell.

The Gates PSL Scholarship was founded in 2005 by a gift from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in honor of 红桃视频 alumnus and public service advocate William H. Gates '50. The program awards five scholarships on an annual basis to first year J.D. students, and covers tuition, books and living expenses. Gates scholars commit to work in public service for five years following graduation.

鈥淭he 2017 Gates Scholars are an amazing, accomplished and talented group of individuals,鈥 said Huy Nguyen, assistant director of the Gates PSL program. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to have them join our public service community here at the law school, and we know they will make powerful and positive contributions to our school and community.鈥

Supporting the law school鈥檚 vision of making generous public service a reality for students, the Gates PSL program empowers and enables scholars to pursue a career path in public service law. Gates Scholars have gone on to impact change on a local, national and international level at a variety of organizations, including the ACLU of Washington, Inner City Law in L.A. and the Immigrant Advocacy Project in Virginia.

In the coming months, we will feature each of the scholarship recipients.
