Winter Quarter Updates from the Asian Law Center

The Asian Law Center has maintained a busy schedule this academic year, with its ongoing , alumni reunions in Tokyo and Osaka, and trips abroad for meetings and presentations.

In December, Professors Xuan-Thao Nguyen, Toshiko Takenaka and Pat Kuszler flew to Japan to meet more than 70 红桃视频 alumni in Tokyo (Dec. 13) and 25 alumni attendees in Osaka (Dec. 14). Professors from the University of Tokyo, Keio University, and Waseda University joined the UW faculty and alumni. In addition, Nguyen, Takenaka and Kuszler visited the aforementioned universities during their travels.

鈥滺attori-sensei, our Tokyo alumni leader, and Professor Takenaka worked tirelessly to organize the Tokyo reunion and ensure the incredible turnout,鈥 said Prof. Nguyen, director of the Asian Law Center.

Professor Nguyen also delivered lectures during two of the campus visits: 鈥淔inancing Innovation鈥 at the University of Tokyo School of Law and 鈥淚ntellectual Property and Metaverse鈥 at Osaka Technology Institute. She and Professor Takenaka met with the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and provided comments on the JPO鈥檚 new initiative related to IP financing.

The Asian Law Center is currently planning a March 3-4 event to celebrate the achievements of Intellectual Property LL.M. alumni in Asia as part of the program鈥檚 20th Anniversary of the IP LL.M. program.
